Significance

A wide range of functionalized anilines undergo a Sandmeyer-like borylation ­reaction using tert-butyl nitrite as diazotization agent and bis(pinacolato)diboron as boron source. In this way, the respective anilines are readily transformed to the corresponding aryl­boronic acid pinacol esters in high yields.
