ABSTRACT

Routine cesarean delivery of the vertex-presenting fetus in prematurity has not uniformly reduced neonatal morbidity and mortality due to intraventricular or subependymal hemorrhages occurring during labor. As a result, vaginal delivery is advocated with the uncomplicated premature vertex-presenting fetus in labor. Reported is a simple technique to potentially avoid or reduce complications and the subsequent neurologic sequelae associated with this intrapartum occurrence.
