Significance
(-)-Agelastatin A is isolated from the sponge Agelas dendromorpha and possesses four contiguous nitrogen-substituted stereogenic centers around a central cyclopentane ring. A key feature of the synthesis is the introduction of two nitrogen-substituted stereogenic centers by means of a [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement.
