Introduction

Primary sarcomas of the airways are a rare and aggressive group of tumours accounting for less than 0.5 % of lung cancers. Leiomyosarcoma, fibrosarcomas, and hemangiopericytomas are the most common subtypes [[1]]. Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (MPNST) is an exceedingly rare subtype and is defined as any malignant tumour arising from or differentiating towards cells of the peripheral nerve sheath. MPNST tends to arise intra-parenchymally with a lesser incidence endobronchially. Surgery remains the only method of cure for these tumours in the early stages.
