Significance

Phosphabarrelenes with rhodium were recently shown by the same authors to be reactive catalysts for hydroformylation of internal alkenes (Chem. Commun. 2004, 694-695). Using these newly designed ligands, several monodentate and bidentate ligands were synthesized. These catalysts were subjected to hydrogenation conditions of itaconic ester and acetamidoacrylates.
