Dysbiosis of the gut is key for complex allergological problems
Introduction Dysbiosis of the gut is rarely looked upon when talking about respiratory hypersensitivity. Classical allergological approaches like the subcutaneous immune therapy are well established but not always successful. Sometimes it is of great benefit to look at the flora of the gut.
Material and methods This case report presents a complexe respiratory disease.
Result A 54 year old patient presents in our outpatient department with several allergies for further diagnostics. Prick- and IgE-RAST were able to prove several inhalative allergies. Furthermore we were able to diagnose a histamine intolerance. Approaches with antihistaminica and DAO substitution were more or less ineffective. Hyposensibilisations brought only little symptomatic relieve. An examination of the microbiom of the gut however revealed a dysbiosis. A dietary change could readjust the microbiom. As a consequence the respiratory functions improved and anaphylactic reactions where no longer observed.
Discussion The microbiom of the gut is a key player of several immunological functions. While there are many not well researched traditional methods of gut readjustment, new moleculargenetic methods could be of benefit for the patients. This could be the effectiveness of a immune therapy of oncological or as presented of allergological diseases.
