Abstract

With the aim of accessing a new record holder for the most bent pyrene system, a new type of pyrenophane was designed that incorporates both a means for tuning the degree of bend in the pyrene system and buttressing phenyl groups for kinetic stabilization. The synthesis of the first member of this class of compounds is described.
