“New minimal invasive endoscopic methods for mediastinal diagnosis and staging of lung cancer are increasingly replacing more invasive methods. It is therefore of major importance to produce firm clinical guidelines based on the newest evidence.” says Professor Peter Vilmann, leader of this guideline.

ESGE in cooperation with ERS and ESTS presents a new multisociety European Guideline aiming to address the benefit and burden associated with combined endobronchial (EBUS-TBNA) and esophageal (EUS-FNA) mediastinal nodal staging of lung cancer. Additionally, the Guideline addresses the use of EBUS/EUS for diagnosis of the primary lung tumor and the left adrenal gland, as well as training issues.
