I want to thank Dr. Edward Buchanan for serving as guest editor for this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on “Pediatric Plastic Surgery—Clefts” and the outstanding authors for their contributions.

Dr. Buchanan is currently an assistant professor in the Plastic Surgery Division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. He is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. Dr. Buchanan trained in plastic surgery at Stanford University Medical Center and completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital/ Harborview Medical Center.

His primary practice focuses on cleft lip and palate, craniofacial anomalies, and pediatric plastic surgery. Dr. Buchanan has presented at numerous meetings and is an up and coming voice in the plastic surgery community. He remains active in research at Texas Children's Hospital and oversees one of the busiest craniofacial clinics in the country.
