Background

Central retinal vein occlusion is frequently associated with cardiovascular risk factors (arterial hypertension, hypercholesterolemia), or local factors such as ocular hypertension. However, in young patients (under 50), haematological and inflammatory factors (e. g. factor V Leiden, mutation of prothrombin, hypercysteinemia) must be further investigated [1] [2].

We report the case of a young patient presenting with a non-ischemic central retinal vein occlusion associated with a G 20210A mutation and discuss the relevance of this result for her relatives.
