Devon I. Rubin

The Guest Editor of this issue of Seminars in Neurology is Devon Rubin, M.D. Dr. Rubin is Associate Professor of Neurology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Director of the EMG Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL. He did his undergraduate work at Washington University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree with University Honors. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he received the Samuel A. Trufant Award for Outstanding Performance in Neurology, and then did his Residency and Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Rubin's area of expertise is neuromuscular disorders, but it is clear that education is an area of excellence as well. He received the Mayo Clinic Distinguished Educator Award in 2010, and the A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology in 2009. He has received several Teacher of the Year Awards and has been recognized with the Outstanding Faculty Member Award and the Outstanding Course Director Award. He gives several lectures in the Resident Clinical Neurophysiology Course and the Neurology Core Curriculum Lecture Series at the Mayo Clinic. Many of us know and admire him from the excellent lectures he gives and courses he directs at the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Rubin has also earned tremendous national respect for his tireless service to our profession. He serves on the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Subspecialty Examination in Clinical Neurophysiology Examination Committee. He examines for the ABPN Oral Board Examination. He chairs the Digital Media Education Committee. He was the Voting Delegate for the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine at the International Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology in Kobe, Japan in October 2010. In the fields of Neurophysiology and Electromyography, he is considered to be one of the premier authorities.

Dr. Rubin and Dr. Daube edited the 3rd edition of the textbook Clinical Neurophysiology. In addition to owning first authorship of a tremendous number of peer-reviewed, original manuscripts, he has published several unique electronic educational manuals and CDs.
