Significance

The attachment of two carbon units via C-C cleavage of arynes and dual C-C bond formation using activated methylenes with electron-withdrawing groups is applied here in the field of fluorene chemistry. This straightforward transformation proves to be a fast and versatile method to obtain fluorine derivatives.
