Significance

Various aryl and heteroaryl bromides can be transformed by the cross-coupling with ammonia in the presence of a readily available copper-NHC catalyst into the corresponding arylamines. The method does not require expensive ligands or metals, is suitable for scaling-up and tolerates most functionalities. The use of aryl bromides instead of more expensive iodides is another advantage of this method.
