Laurent Monino et al. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastroenterostomy with lumen-apposing metal stents: a retrospective multicentric comparison of wireless and over-the-wire techniques

EUS-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) was performed in 71 patients with gastric outlet obstruction. Either the orointestinal drain-assisted wireless endoscopic simplified technique (WEST) was used or the nonassisted direct technique over a guidewire (DTOG). In this retrospective study WEST (n = 41), compared to DTOG (n = 30), had a higher technical success rate (95 % vs. 73 %), lower adverse event rate (15 % vs. 47 %), and comparable clinical success, suggesting that WEST could be the preferred option for EUS-GE.
