Die Geschichte der modernen oralen Implantologie beginnt mit den Tierversuchen des schwedischen Anatomen Brånemark vor über 60 Jahren. Das von ihm dabei erstmalig beschriebene Phänomen der Osseointegration stellt die biologische Grundlage der oralen Implantologie dar. Im Folgenden soll eine kurze Übersicht zur Osseointegration von Titanimplantaten mit unterschiedlichen Belastungsprotokollen gegeben werden.
