Abstract

Obesity is perceived as a chronic disease with a high relapse rate. Thus, weight loss treatments need to be supplemented by long-term strategies targeting weight loss maintenance. Weight loss maintenance is hampered by the obesogenic environment, physiological alteration after weight loss, and psychological factors. To promote behavior change for weight loss maintenance an adaptation of the therapeutic attitude as well as specific therapeutic techniques are recommended.
