In den letzten Jahren hat die Digitalisierung die meisten Disziplinen der Zahnheilkunde erreicht [1]. So gehören in vielen Zahnarztpraxen die elektronische Patientenakte und das digitale Röntgen seit Langem zum Alltag und auch Begriffe wie Intraoralscanner, CAD/CAM-Fertigung (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) und 3-D-Druck sind keine Fremdwörter mehr. Jedoch müssen für eine erfolgreiche Implementierung neuer Geräte und Behandlungskonzepte einzelne Komponenten und Arbeitsschritte sowohl zwischen Zahnarztpraxis und Dentallabor als auch interdisziplinär mit der Oralchirurgie oder Kieferorthopädie abgestimmt werden. Kurzum: Die Anschaffung eines Intraoralscanners alleine ohne einen Workflow führt zwangsläufig zu einem teuren Gerät, was am Ende nicht benutzt wird.
