Ultrasonographic evaluation of gallbladder dysfunction in patients with functional dyspepsia
The study aims to observe the gallbladder emptying in patients with functional dyspepsia, by means of ultrasonographic method described by Dodd et al. We measured the corelation between symptoms and presence of gallbladder dysfunction after a solid meal. Study also aims to evaluate the influence of Helicobacter pylori infection on gallbladder motility. Gallbladder and gastric evacuation were analized for identiffication of coordination problems between gastric and biliary motility.
21 patients with functional dyspepsia, admitted in Medical Clinic No 3, Cluj-Napoca between april and august 2007 as well as a control group of 10 subjects were included in the study. We concluded that the gallbladder emptying curve is slower in patients with functional dyspepsia. The ejection fraction is significant lower compared to control group. The gallbladder emptying curve presents significant differences between the patients group and controls. Helicobacter pylori infection has no influence on biliary motor function. There was no coordination disfunction between the gastric and the gallbladder evacuation.
