Significance

Neopeltolide, a macrolide isolated from a marine sponge of the family Neopeltidae, shows potent inhibitory activity against a range of human tumor cell lines like lung andenocarcinoma or leukemia. The synthesis depicted highlights the construction of the bicyclic macrocycle by a very efficient and stereoselective Prins cyclization.
