Dr. Dana Sands is a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery Cleveland Clinic Florida, Weston, Florida. Dana was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received her undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. She earned her M.D. degree from Philadelphia's Hahnemann University School of Medicine. She completed a general surgery residency at the University of Miami, Florida and her fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Weston. She then joined the staff at the Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Dana is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. She is actively involved in the surgical education of colorectal trainees. Her contribution to the medical literature includes 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 7 book chapters, and the soon to be published Ambulatory Colorectal Surgery. Dana is a member of several medical societies.
Dana, her husband Larry Sands (also a colorectal surgeon in Miami), and their children, 3-year-old Ryan and 1-year-old Cory, live in Weston. When not working, Dana dedicates her time to raising her two young children.
