Abstract

89 samples (82 species) of marine algae of French Atlantic coast have been investigated in vitro for their potential antimitotic properties, by vegetable tissue culture technique (inhibition of Helian-thus tuberosus growth). For each sample, three extracts, prepared with Et20, then EtOH 99 %, then H20, have been tested. Some of the most interesting extracts have also been examinated in vitro by "Heliantbus tuberosus test-disc", by crown-gall tissue culture technique, and for their cytotoxicity on KB-cells and for their antimetabolite properties.
