First experience with bag-in-the lens IOL
Purpose: To evaluate incidence of secondary cataract development after bag-in-the lens IOL implantation. Methods: Ten eyes were operated. Age of patients was from 20 to 75 years. Cataract surgery was performed with phacoemulsification machine Legasy Everest (Alcon). Diameter of anterior and posterior CCC was 5mm. Anterior CCC was guided with Tasignon or Jašinskas calipers ring, that was fixed to anterior lens capsule with long-molecular-chain OVD. Borders of previously fulfilled anterior CCC were as a marker for posterior CCC. No vitrectomy was performed. Ten IOL (model 89 A, Morcher) with fixation bag-in-the lens were implanted through 3,5mm temporal incision with a forceps after uneventful cataract surgery. Pupil was constricted with acethylcholine chloride (Miochol). Wound was closed properly with 10/0 nylon sutures. Results: During follow-up time (4–19 mouths) IOL remained stable in all eyes. No secondary cataract was diagnosed in optical zone. Conclusion: Utilization priority of bag-in-the lens IOL is complicated cataract but it can be used in all other cases as well.
