Metanephroid adenoma of the kidney: a novel tumor entity. Clinical and pathological differentiation from nephroblastoma and renal cell carcinomaPublication History
Publication Date:

Abstract
We report 11 cases of metanephroid adenomas in women aged between 25 and 80 years. Clinical, pathologic and immunohistochemical features of this novel tumor entity are presented; its possible histogenesis is briefly discussed. In contrast to nephroblastoma and renal cell carcinoma, metanephroid adenomas are slowly growing tumors with an excellent prognosis. Due to the benign nature of this tumor entity they are cured by surgical removal; chemo- or radiotherapy is not required.
