Makroaneurysmen einer Netzhautarterie sind manchmal Ursache massiver Blutungen innerhalb oder in der Nähe der Netzhaut im Makulabereich. Ihre natürliche Entwicklung führt entweder zu Thrombose und spontaner Involution des Makro-aneurysma oder zu einer Intensivierung der damit verbundenen Exsudativ-Phänomene. Photokoagulation rund um die betroffenen Gefäße scheint in solchen Fällen die Situation zu verbessern.

Summary

Macroaneurysms involving the major retinal arteries were found on evaluation by fluorescein angiography to be associated with massive spontaneous macular hemorrhage. After absorbtion of the hemorrhage the aneurysm healed spontaneously; in one case argon laser photocoagulation over the area of the angiographically altered vessels surrounding the macroaneurysm seemed to improve the evolution.
