Summary
Spasmus nutans is a phenomenon which occurs in early childhood and, in its classic form, resolves spontaneously within a few months to a few years. Until 1970 spasmus nutans was considered a benign entity. However, since 1970, several authors have reported cases of acquired monocular nystagmus often diagnosed as spasmus nutans, and associated with optic nerve or chiasmal glioma.
