Beginnende Orbitalphlegmone bei einer Ballonplombe nach Lincoff-Kreissig

Bei Diskussionen über die Anwendung der Ballonplombe nach Lincoff-Kreissig wurde auf die Möglichkeit der Infektion entlang dem aus der Bindehaut herausragenden Schlauch hingewiesen. Unseres Wissens wurde diese Komplikation noch nie beschrieben. Wir berichten über einen Fall, bei dem nach Applikation der Ballonplombe eine beginnende Orbitalphlegmone durch Staphylococcus aureus auftrat.

Summary

In discussions of the application of the Lincoff-Kreissig balloon buckle, the possibility of infection along the cannula passing out of the conjunctiva has been mentioned. To the authors' knowledge this complication has never been described. They report here on a case in which incipient orbital phlegmon from Staphylococcus aureus occurred following application of a balloon buckle.
