Abstract
The therapy of obstipation must always be multicausal. This becomes especially difficult when a laxative abuse is present. When the patient cannot be offered successfully an effective and causal therapy, he/she quickly falls back on his/her „proven” but rather harmful remedies. With the change to enzymatically produced, partially hydrolyzed Guar gum powder it is possible, to achieve a return to a regular bowel movement, which is above the average. In contrast to other roughage, the active principle of partially hydrolyzed guar core flour is based on the water solubility, so that after finding an individual dose (in about 8-10 days), the regulative therapeutic effect develops.
