Significance
(+)-Enshuol is an oxasqualenoid isolated from the red alga Laurencia omaezakiana. The cornerstone of this synthesis is the construction of three of the five oxacyclic rings by Shi asymmetric epoxidation of tribsubstituted alkenes followed by intramolecular epoxide cleavage.
