Usefulness of intraoperative laparoscopic ultrasound in nephron sparing surgery
The intraoperative laparoscopic ultrasound (ILUS) plays an important role during renal laparoscopic surgery. ILUS is a useful tool for investigation of perirenal tissue, renal vessels and renal sinus tumour invasion and changing laparoscopic partial nephrectomy to total, vice versa. During the marking process of resection borders, ILUS serves as a hard-fisted tool for underlying tumor for nephron sparing surgery. At this case presentation we demonstrate the role of ILUS preventing a misplaced resection due to impacted perirenal fat lobule mimicking a tumor.
