New compounds from Fadogia agrestis (Rubiaceae)

Fadogia agrestis Schweinf. ex Hiern (Rubiaceae) is a shrub found from Guinea to Sudan. In African traditional medicine the decoction of this plant is extensively used as a febrifuge which could be associated with its use as an antimalarial drug. This shrub is also used as a diuretic and in the treatment of kidney pain and convulsions [1].

We report on the isolation and structure elucidation of two new monoterpene glycosides isolated from leaves of F. agrestis. These compounds have been isolated and identified by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques [2–5] as:
