Identification of three new saponins in Bupleurum fruticescens

Several Bupleurum species have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2000 years. Additionally, some Bupleurum species are officially indexed drugs in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia [1]. B. fruticescens is a species that grows in Spain. Some compounds from B. fruticescens have shown anti-inflammatory activity [2,3]. In this work, the butanolic extract from B. fruticescens has been studied and three new compounds have been identified by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques:
