Significance

The most significant feature of the catalytic system presented in this paper is the possibility of obtaining selectively both enantio­mers of nitroalcohols by using different ligands with the same stereochemical pattern. Ligands used are prepared in a single step starting from inexpensive, commercial material. Overall, the methodology can be successfully applied to a number of aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes without exclusion of air or moisture.
