Significance
This novel cyanation protocol is the first method that efficiently allows the conversion of all kinds of aromatic and heteroaromatic bromides. Despite high reaction temperatures good to excellent selectivities and yields are obtained. Functional groups such as sensitive nitro groups are tolerated in this process. Aryl bromides with limited accessibility through bulky neighbouring groups are also efficiently cyanated.
