Significance
Over the years, numerous methods have been developed for the epoxidation of olefins (see book below). In particular, use of hydrogen peroxide as an environmentally friendly oxidant was extensively studied (B. S. Lane, K. Burgess Chem. Rev. 2003, 103, 2457-2473). In the present paper, the authors develop a Ti(Oi-Pr)4-3,3′-(ortho-substituted phenyl)salan catalyst system for epoxidation of unfunctionalized olefins using H2O2.
