We appreciate Dr. Oliva's response (Letter to the Editor, J Reconstr Microsurg 9:319, 1993 ) to our thoughts regarding the use of interposition vein grafts in head and neck microsurgery (Miller MJ, Schusterman MA, Reece GP, Kroll SS: Interposition vein grafting in head and neck reconstructive microsurgery. J Reconstr Microsurg 9:245, 1993 ). His comments are especially pertinent, based as they are on the extensive experience from the oldest center for microvascular surgery in the country.
