Significance

More and more gold-catalyzed processes are being uncovered. The use of gold to catalyze a cycloisomerization of enynes (S. Ma, S. Yu, Z. Gu Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2006, 45, 200-203) currently represents a field of growing interest. The high reactivity and the mildness of gold catalysis have never been applied to the cycloisomerization of 1,6-ene-ynamides before the present report by Cossy and Meyer, who find unusual reaction products depending on the substitution.
