Significance

Nominine is an antiarrhythmic agent. It was first synthesised in 2004 by Muratake and Natsume (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2004, 43, 4646-4649). The synthesis depicted here is shorter and benefits from deft use of [3+2] and [4+2] cycloadditions to construct the heptacyclic skeleton.
