Significance

(+)-Dolastatin 19 is isolated from the sea hare Dolabella auricularia and exhibits anti-cancer activity. The Paterson group reports a revised structure and first total synthesis of (+)-Dolastatin 19, which further demonstrates the use of the aldol reaction in polyketide synthesis.
