ABSTRACT

As the field of colon and rectal surgery has expanded and diversified, so has the multitude of opportunities available to the prospective colon and rectal surgery graduate. Although this may initially appear exciting, these decisions may eventually become daunting and even paralyzing. However, prior to making a decision, candidates must first make an honest assessment of their goals, abilities, and priorities. This article briefly outlines some of these challenging choices and helps lay the groundwork for a successful decision process.
