Significance

Isolated from the fermentation broth of Acremonium sp., UCS1025A exhibits antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity as well as the ability to inhibit telomerase. This synthesis by Hoye and Dvornikovs explores the biomimetic formation of the octalin portion by an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction.
