Significance
A new Pictet-Spengler cyclization affording substituted thiazolo- and pyrazolo-quinolines is reported. The reaction proceeds under mildly acidic conditions in good overall yields from precursors conveniently prepared by classical (e.g., Hantzsch) methods.
