Significance

Perylenebisimide dyes are widely used in applications ranging from the biomedical to the materials fields due to their high extinction coefficients and stabilities. Soluble extended penta- and hexaarylenebisimide dyes are prepared expediently through the combination of a Suzuki cross-coupling and a mild dehydrogenative cyclization.
