Salbeiblätter und Rhabarberwurzel vs. Aciclovir bei Herpes labialis

Zusammenfassung

In einer randomisierten und verumkontrollierten Studie beteiligten sich 149 Patienten mit Lippenherpes, von denen 145 zur Auswertung herangezogen werden konnten. Die Patienten erhielten eine Creme, die entweder Aciclovir, Salbei-Extrakt oder Rhabarber- und Salbei-Extrakt enthielt. Rhabarber-Extrakt versus Aciclovir war vorgängig in einer Pilotstudie untersucht worden. Dabei zeigte Rhabarber-Extrakt allein keine befriedigende Wirkung. Die kombinierte Rhabarber-Salbei-Creme zeigte sich in der präsentierten Studie als ebenso wirksam wie die Aciclovir-Creme. Die trendmäßige Überlegenheit der Rhabarber-Salbei-Creme gegenüber der Salbei-Creme lässt den Schluss zu, dass die Rhabarber-Salbei-Creme eine wirksame Kombination darstellt.

Zusammenfassung

Out of 149 patients with lip herpes taking part in a randomised and verum-controlled study, 145 patients were included for evaluation. The patients were supplied with a cream containing either aciclovir or sage or rhubarb-sage extracts. In a previous pilot study, the efficacy of rhubarb versus aciclovir extract was investigated. The results indicated non-satisfactory efficacy for the rhubarb extract alone. In the current study, the rhubarb-sage cream and aciclovir cream were equally effective. The superiority of the rhubarb-sage cream as opposed to the sage cream alone led to the conclusion that rhubarb-sage cream represents an effective combination.
