Significance
The catalytic hydrogenation of enamine amides and esters using the ferrocenyl-based ligand 1 and [(cod)RhCl]2 often suffers from product inhibition, due to the formation of an unprotected amine. Resolution of this problem is achieved by an in situ protection using (Boc)2O, which can be easily removed if required.
