Significance

This method offers an easy enan­tioselective synthetic route towards the poly­deoxy­propionate chain by using an iterative protocol. This important structural motif is found in a number of biologically active compounds. A commercially available chiral ferrocenyl-based catalyst Josiphos is used for the control of enantioselectivity in copper-catalyzed 1,4-addition reaction.
