Einleitung

Bei Hunden und Katzen mit chronisch-rezidivierenden oder unklaren Erkrankungen des unteren Respirationstraktes ist die Gewinnung von broncho-alveolärer Lavageflüssigkeit (BALF) eine wichtige und in der Praxis häufig durchgeführte diagnostische Maßnahme, die im Rahmen jeder bronchoskopischen Untersuchung erfolgen sollte. Das so gewonnene Material findet für eine weiterführende zytologische, bakteriologische, mykologische und parasitologische Untersuchung Verwendung. Im Folgenden sollen die Technik der Durchführung einer broncho-alveolären Lavage und die Besonderheiten bei der Interpretation von Resultaten der BAL-Untersuchung bei Hund und Katze dargestellt werden.
