Euro-PDT, das wissenschaftliche Forum der photodynamischen Therapie in der Dermatologie - Aktivitäten und Schwerpunkte der photodynamischen Therapie in Europa

Zusammenfassung

Im Gegensatz zur Entwicklung vieler anderer neuer Therapieformen wurde die Entwicklung der photodynamischen Therapie (PDT) und Fluoreszenzdiagnostik (FD) nicht primär durch die pharmazeutische Industrie, sondern in einigen spezialisierten, an diesen Methoden interessierten Zentren vorangetrieben. Diese „Hotspots” auf der europäischen PDT-Landkarte finden sich vornehmlich in Deutschland, Skandinavien, Italien und Großbritannien. Über die letzen Jahre wurden Tausende von Patienten photodynamisch behandelt und Abwandlungen der klassischen PDT mit topischer 5-Aminolävulinsäure wurden zugelassen. Im Jahr 2000 wurde die European Society for Photodynamic Therapy in Dermatology (Euro-PDT) gegründet. Sie soll als Kommunikations- und Fortbildungsplattform für jene europäischen Dermatologen dienen, die an diesen erfolgversprechenden diagnostischen und therapeutischen Methoden interessiert sind.

Abstract

In contrast to the development of many other new therapies the development of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and fluorescence diagnosis (FD) was not primarily driven by the pharmaceutical industry but evolved in a few specialized centres interested in these methods. These hotspots on the PDT map of Europe can be mainly found in Germany, Scandinavia, Italy and Great Britain. Over the last years thousands of patients have been treated with PDT and variations of the classical PDT with topical 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) procedure have gained approval by the regulatory authorities. In 2000 the European Society for Photodynamic Therapy in Dermatology (Euro-PDT) was founded as a communication and educational platform for European dermatologists interested these promising diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
