The authors stated in the patients and methods section (p. 1008) that this study was approved by an ethics commitee vote. They have informed us that this is partly incorrect, as only a part of the study (the manometric follow-up) but not the injection protocol itself was approved by an ethics committee vote.

The sentence ”All procedures and the functional studies were performed after written consent had been obtained from patients; the study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committe of the Technical University of Munich” should read ”The manometric study protocol was approved by an ethics committee and the individual BTX injection protocol was approved by an institutional review board. All patients signed an informed consent form.”
