Reduction of Nitroarenes to Aromatic Amines with Nanosized Activated Metallic Iron Powder in Water

Abstract

A practical reduction of nitroarenes with nanosized activated metallic iron powder in water at 210 °C (near-critical water) has been developed. The reduction generates the corresponding aromatic amines in excellent yields.
