Abstract

From the rhizomes of Anemone anhuiensis (Ranunculaceae), two new triterpene saponins, anhuienosides A (1) and B (2), were isolated. These compounds are glycosylated at C-23 and their structures were elucidated as hederagenin 23-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) and 23-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl hederagenin 28-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (2) on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence.
